Lufthansa Cargo expands South American network

Cargo airline successfully launches new connection to Natal

The Brazilian city of Natal has been a new destination in the Lufthansa Cargo network since 7 June. Lufthansa’s cargo arm now flies to the “City of the Sun” every Sunday. “The destination fits right into the existing route to Frankfurt via Viracopos”, explained Achim Martinka, Vice President The Americas at Lufthansa Cargo.

Located just a few degrees south of the Equator, Natal is on the north-eastern tip of Brazil and boasts ideal fruit-growing conditions. Thanks to the subtropical climate, there is a large selection of fruit on offer, from papayas, melons, bananas and mangoes through to pineapples. On the import side, Lufthansa Cargo’s new freighter service is supporting the region’s growing automotive sector by transporting parts needed from Europe. “The new connection makes our offering to our customers in Brazil even more attractive”, said Achim Martinka.

The new cargo connection under flight number LH8259 and with a load capacity of some 90 tonnes arrives in Natal from the south, linking it with the Brazilian city of Viracopos, near before continuing on to Dakar and then Frankfurt.
