Lufthansa Cargo operating strong network this winter

Cargo airline will offer flights to 300 destinations in 97 countries

From 28 October, when the winter schedule goes into effect, Lufthansa Cargo will offer flights to 300 destinations in 97 countries. The most important addition to the schedule is the new service to Tel Aviv, which will connect the city to the cargo airline’s global route network for the first time. Israel’s commercial and financial centre will then be served four times a week with Lufthansa Cargo MD-11 freighters, thereof three times via Istanbul. Lufthansa Cargo is also expanding its services from Egypt. Freighter flights from Cairo to Frankfurt, which were reinstated in March of this year, will be continued in the winter schedule. Frequencies on this route will be increased to three flights per week. The Frankfurt-Cairo route will be served once per week via Istanbul by an MD-11 freighter. The city on the Bosphorus will thus be intensively inked to the hub of Europe’s largest cargo airline.

Services to the Chinese city of Chongqing, which was included in Lufthansa Cargo’s route network for the first time last March, will not be continued during the winter period.

“Despite the fact that market conditions are not easy, we are offering our customers new services in our winter schedule,” said Dr. Andreas Otto, member of the Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board, Product and Sales. “The new freighter flights to Tel Aviv and Istanbul as well as increased frequencies on our route to Cairo will enable us to further strengthen our presence in growth markets in the Middle East,” he added.

This winter, Lufthansa Cargo will serve a total of 49 destinations with freighter aircraft.
