Building the future airfreight hub of Europe

LCC Milestone Event | Frankfurt | September 05, 2024

At September 05, 2024 we celebrated an important step in the further development of our central cargo hub at Frankfurt Airport. With an investment volume of almost 600 million euros, we are focusing on a comprehensive modernization by 2030, which will make our Lufthansa Cargo Center (LCC) Europe's most modern airfreight hub. Numerous guests from the worlds of politics and business, as well as employees, customers, and project partners, attended the ceremony at the "LCCevo" construction site to mark the start of construction, which has already begun.

Since its opening in 1982, the LCC has been in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has played a vital role in global airfreight traffic. The modernization program includes the step-by-step renewal of all central functions by 2030, including cargo handling equipment, warehouse and conveyor technology, building services, administrative buildings and more. For more insights see the speeches from our board members Ashwin Bhat and Dietmar Focke.
