Information regarding Japan flights
Tokyo flights will be re-routed to Osaka
15 March 2011
We are concerned and dismayed by the disastrous news emerging from Japan. These developments are also impacting Lufthansa Cargo's flight schedule. Owing to severe handling restrictions at Tokyo's Narita Airport, flights scheduled to Tokyo will now be re-routed to Osaka up to 22 March. Since all Lufthansa passenger services to Tokyo have been suspended initially up to the weekend, no bookings for shipments to Tokyo can be accepted at the present time. Should you have already booked shipments to Narita, please contact your Lufthansa Cargo sales office.
In addition to the available freighter flights to Osaka, shipments can still be booked on Lufthansa passenger flights to and from Osaka and Nagoya.
All incoming aircraft from Japan have been checked for signs of radioactivity. Up to now, no increase in radiation levels has been found. As a precautionary measure, we will also be checking shipments at the Osaka and Nagoya stations for any trace of radioactive contamination.
We deeply regret any inconvenience these short-notice changes may have caused in your timetable. We will naturally inform you immediately once the restrictions have been lifted, or if any further changes prove necessary.
Thank you for your understanding in these difficult days.
