Lufthansa Cargo hosting third Cargo Climate Care Conference

Logistics industry and science discuss challenges for environment-friendly airfreight

Lufthansa Cargo is staging its third Climate Care Conference this year. Expected to attend the event at the Senckenberg Natural History Museum in Frankfurt on 24 April are some 200 representatives from the logistics business, the political and scientific community.

Up for debate on the conference agenda are environmental issues in the air traffic and logistics industry. Prestigious speakers, including the noted climate researcher Mojib Latif, will present and discuss climate trends at talks and panel discussions at the Senckenberg Museum. The challenges for environment-friendly logistics will be debated on the basis of diverse future scenarios mapping the development of the global economy.

The conference will also be the setting for presentation of the 2013 Climate Care Awards. Lufthansa Cargo confers the awards on customers and staff for outstanding service to the environments. The motto for the accolades is “More Ideas for Less Emissions“.

“Air freight is indispensable to the global economy and it is our responsibility to operate transports as environment-friendly as possible,” observes Bettina Jansen, Head of Environmental Management at Lufthansa Cargo. “We bring leading climate researchers together with the logistics industry at our Cargo Climate Care Conference. The exchange of ideas and experiences as well as an open and critical debate at the conference are the key to further improving environmental management throughout our entire industry”.

Attendance at the conference is free for representatives of the logistics industry. More information and a registration form can be obtained from:

Responsibility for the climate and the environment is shared across the entire Lufthansa Group. Alongside its engagement in climate research projects over the past 20 years and long-term trials with biosynthetic kerosene, the Group is currently focusing on a fuel efficiency project aimed at harnessing every possible option for reducing fuel consumption and the concomitant CO2 emissions.
