The eAWB becomes reality

First paperless deliveries in Munich

Lufthansa Cargo in Munich took a big step towards a paperless future on Wednesday of last week when the first deliveries without AWB from selected customers were handled without difficulties as part of the eAWB rollout ex MUC. A new, customer-friendly process is being implemented in Munich for this, enabling practically all consignments to be delivered without AWB, regardless of destination.

Once successfully stabilised, the eAWB will be extended on a broad scale to further customers. There has been a great response to date from customers to the new user-friendly process. Numerous forwarders have expressed an interest in being included in the data quality phase. During this period, Lufthansa Cargo and the customer will work to eliminate any lingering IT and process challenges.

Volumes are expected to rise to 45 per cent by the end of the year.
