Contribute to reducing your future climate impact with Lufthansa Cargo

Sustainable Choice enables you to support the reduction of your future climate impact through two key measures: the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and contributions to certified climate protection projects. 

SAF has significantly lower lifecycle CO₂ emissions compared to fossil kerosene. Its biogenic feedstocks absorb CO₂ during growth and release it during combustion, creating a near closed carbon cycle whereby not more CO2 is emitted to the atmosphere, than was previously present.
Certified climate projects further remove or store CO₂ long term through measures like reforestation and carbon storage. 
Together, they support efforts to mitigate the Well-to-Wheel CO₂ emissions of your future flights. 

Together with you, we aim to achieve net CO₂ reduction in airfreight transport by 2050.

SAF & Contribution to high-quality climate protection projects

  1. Small: 10% SAF / 90% climate projects 
  2. Medium: 30% SAF / 70% climate projects
  3. Large: 60% SAF / 40% climate projects
