How long will the new free rent period be?
Lufthansa Cargo will be offering a new, free rent period of 7 full days to those of our customers participating in our ULD Handover Program (e.g. Build Up Program (BUP) certified customers).
Only if rented ULDs are not returned within 7 full days will we be forced to apply the TACT rules so as to clear inefficient processes, as they were intended with one exception. As a service to our customers, the new free rental period will be extended from 5 to 7 full days. Thus, Lufthansa Cargo will be offering to their customers two more days than formerly published within TACT to return our ULD's.
When will a Demurrage Fee become due?
Charges will only apply with beginning of the 8th day (including Saturday, Sunday and public holidays) i.e. after 7 full days excluding the day of pick up.
That means the new, free rent period will start at 00:01 o’clock (LT) after the day of pick up and end after 7 full days at 23:59 o’clock. Our customers will therefore now have the possibility to return unused ULDs within one week, i.e. until midnight of the 7th day.
It will therefore be possible to implement regular traffic on a weekly basis, e.g. every Monday, and to return any unused ULDs before any charge becomes due by the beginning of the 8th day, e.g. Tuesday morning.
For whom does the new rent-free period apply?
All customers participating in our ULD-Handover Program (e.g. Build Up Program (BUP) certified customers) building up or breaking down ULDs at there own warehouse independently.
Who will be charged?
The contract partner is always the customer to whom the ULD will be issued.
If the ULD is not returned within 7 full days, the demurrage fee will become due and the renting customer will receive an invoice including a detailed ULD movement list explaining which ULD has been rented from whom, where and when within the last month. The so-called ULD Control Receipt Number (UCR) will be listed as well.
How will the demurrage fee be calculated?
TACT abstract 8.3 (Lufthansa 8.4) and further rules provide the information regarding demurrage.
Identification of your company at any of our pick-up or drop-off ULD stations
To identify your company correctly at one of our pick-up or drop-off ULD stations, your staff will be required to provide their 9-digit CDB number (LCAG Customer Number e.g. 123456789) or the 6-7 digit LAV/LSV number (e.g. 123FRA) or the existing 6-7-digit Jettware Account Code Number (e.g. 1234FRA). Please advise your staff accordingly.
Is it possible to pass on ULDs to another company associated with my company without charge?
Sub-companies, integrators or consolidators will be allowed to rent ULDs from Lufthansa Cargo and forward them to other companies. As long as the ULD is returned within 7 full days no charges will apply.
As a sub-company, integrator or consolidator we would like to ask you to contact your local Lufthansa Cargo Sales representative to clarify your best possible local set up.
