From 2th to 5th May Lufthansa Cargo participated on the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston


With over 120.000 participants this year, the OTC is the most important Oil and Gas trade show in the world. Lufthansa Cargo was present as the only airline amongst 5,500 exhibitors. The freight airline participated for the second time with an own booth and had a team of eight people on the fair, selling its services. To support the Lufthansa Cargo staff from Houston, the team consisted of staff from Amsterdam, Oslo, Baku, Stockholm and Frankfurt.
Alexander Kohnen, Director Nordic and Baltic Countries and Head of Oil and Gas Team of Lufthansa Cargo was part of the team and was thrilled with the good atmosphere that the trade show offered: “The OTC is the perfect event to make good business contacts. We not only had really good customer talks with the represented forwarders such as Geodis, Expeditors, Pentagon and JAS, but also excellent talks with many top-ranking shippers such as Halliburton and BakerHughes”, he reports.
But Kohnen also felt the heavy pressure on the industry: “Many companies obviously suffer from the low oil price. But the expectation is that the prices have bottomed out and that will increase likely in 2017”.
In the course of the trade show Lufthansa Cargo hosted a Customer Advisory Board (CAB) for the Oil and Gas Industry on 2nd May. The Board consisted of 50 customers from the freight forwarding industry and shippers from the Oil and Gas industry. The event was organized by Rohan Lobo, Lufthansa Cargos District Manager Houston, and his team. Carl Unger, Director of Sales and Handling USA South, welcomed the customers to the event and Alexander Kohnen presented the Oil and Gas setup of LCAG. Guest speakers from Expeditors and Zentech, Inc. were addressing the crowd on current industry topics. Topic of the lively discussion was the future development of the Oil and Gas Industry and its logistic setup in light of the ongoing crisis.
