Teaching containers instead of textbooks
To support practice-orientated teaching at Landesberufsschule (LBS) Mitterdorf, a vocational college in Austria, Lufthansa Cargo Vienna donated two AKH containers for freight forwarding students.
Sought and found. Following a call by LBS vocational college, Lufthansa Cargo offered to help out with two used AKH containers by Jettainer for teaching purposes.
In late July the “teaching material” finally arrived at Graz Airport where it was received by a delighted Edith Vlach (Lufthansa Cargo AG, Manager Hub Operations Support Austria), Johannes Waltensdorfer (Lufthansa Cargo AG, Customer Service Graz), Uwe Heit (instructor at LBS Mitterdorf) and Alfred Ferstl (Head of the Freight Forwarding & Logistics Group Styria).
“We were thrilled by the interest of LBS Mitterdorf – and are happy to help”, says Edith Vlach. Alfred Ferstl also pointed out the importance of such cooperations in the field of education: “The students are the future ambassadors of freight transport, and their most important task will be to employ and coordinate various modes of transport in a logistically effective manner. So, it is all the more important that they are familiar with practical requirements.”
In the meantime, the containers have arrived in Mitterdorf and found their place among textbooks and blackboard.
