
Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht was born in Kassel on 15 December 1955. After obtaining a mechanical engineering degree at Aachen Technical University, he was employed as senior engineer at the University’s Hydraulics and Pneumatics Institute, where he took his doctorate in 1988.

Dr. Rupprecht joined Lufthansa in Frankfurt in 1988 and held diverse managerial posts in aircraft maintenance up to 1994. As head of operating equipment services, he prepared the legal groundwork leading to the founding of Lufthansa Engineering and Operational Services GmbH (Lufthansa LEOS) as an independent company. In early 1995, Dr. Rupprecht moved as Corporate Manager to Corporate Development in Hamburg. In July 1995, he was appointed deputy head of Marketing & Sales at Lufthansa Technik. From October 2000 to September 2004, Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht was Managing Director Lufthansa Technik Logistik GmbH. He was subsequently appointed Head of Hub Management Frankfurt. Between October 2004 and March 2011, he was responsible at that post for the major hub in the Lufthansa global route network.
Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht took over as Member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo, responsible for Operations, with effect from 1 April 2011.

Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht is married and has three children.
