Visit of the A380 on the apron with customers of Lufthansa Cargo
For selected customers, on 19th August 2010, Lufthansa Cargo organized a viewing of the new Lufthansa flagship A380. The dimensions of the A380 set new standards. It is only when you stand in front of the A380 that you realize its true size. The giants of former days suddenly begin to look small by comparison.
The customers too were astonished at the new dimension of air travel. Dominique Tual, DB Schenker, said: "It is amazing that such a thing can actually fly. The dimensions are gigantic!" Natalia Syndikus, also from DB Schenker, was another who was impressed by the ultra-modern super jumbo: "Simply fascinating how large the A380 is. From a distance it looks very compact. Looked at close up, however, it is huge, in particular its wings are incredibly wide".
During the guided tour the customers also had an opportunity to inspect the cabins and have a look at the new First Class. The luxurious Premium Class has been well-received by the customers of the Passage airline and is regularly fully booked. High-quality fabrics such as, for example, Alcantara, which has been used for the first time in an aircraft cabin, the generous offer of space and also the LCD screens create a totally new travel experience above the clouds.
But even the slightly modified Business Class and the new Economy Class are expressions of the new age in passenger transport. For example, each passenger in Economy has their own monitor on the back of the seat in front - with an individual entertainment programme. There is a completely new feeling of space and during the flight it is unusually quiet.
Near the end of the viewing when it was time for the crew to get back on board and the visitors rounded off their tour with a visit to the newly-designed lounge area for the First and Business Classes alongside the gate, the majority would have preferred to stay on board in order to also experience the "Mike Bravo" in the air.
