Lufthansa Cargo reactivates further MD-11

D-ALCP brought back from desert

The Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board has decided to reactivate one of the last two MD-11 freighters parked in the Californian desert. Plans are afoot for this 18th aircraft in the fleet to be back in service by fall 2010. Lufthansa Cargo significantly improved traffic performance in the first half year 2010. The continued, positive business developments and promising market opportunities have led to an earlier reactivation of the D-ALCP than planned. There will be more market opportunities in Japan through the retreat of JAL from freight business. With the return of this further MD-11 capacities will be expanded for the "High Season" in the fourth quarter - and to aim for those new opportunities.
