Lufthansa Cargo presents award for outstanding customer relations

UPS receives "Planet Award of Partner Excellence"

Lufthansa Cargo presented its "Planet Award of Partner Excellence" for the eighth year in succession at a ceremony during the annual Global Partner Council in Venice. UPS received this year’s award for its outstanding cooperation with Lufthansa Cargo. Each year the Global Partner Council brings together top executives from the world’s leading forwarding companies with the Executive Board and management of Lufthansa Cargo.

"UPS and Lufthansa Cargo are linked by a long and highly professional partnership that is built on mutual respect, trust and sustainability. This was particularly evident in 2009 - a year of crisis and the hardest year the air cargo industry has experienced to date," said Lufthansa Cargo CEO and Chairman Carsten Spohr. He and Dr. Andreas Otto, Executive Board member responsible for Product and Sales, presented the award to Chuck Cocci, Vice President Global Air Freight Services for UPS. Dr. Otto also underlined the importance of the special ties between the two companies: "UPS and Lufthansa Cargo benefit from their close business relationship. Professionalism, loyalty and the continuing pursuit of the highest possible quality are what make this partnership so special." Even during the crisis, he said, both companies had pressed ahead with innovations and had e.g. significantly boosted the use of electronic booking channels.

Chuck Cocci was clearly delighted to receive the accolade from Lufthansa Cargo. "UPS was honoured to receive the Planet Award of Partner Excellence for 2009. In what was a truly unprecedented year, the local and regional staff of both companies worked together and found ways to develop new opportunities. Without their tireless efforts, this award would not have been possible."

The Global Partner Council is a top-level meeting between senior executives of Lufthansa Cargo and its twelve Global Partners. Besides UPS, these are Agility, CEVA, DSV, DHL Global Forwarding, Expeditors, Hellmann, Kühne + Nagel, Panalpina, Nippon Express, Schenker and UTi. The aim of the collaboration is to offer logistics solutions to the forwarding industry and to achieve above-average growth through partnership.
