Only a little over a year ago, on 29th June 2009, with AeroLogic a special airline company started its business operations. For the first time, with Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express, a freight airline and an integrator, have jointly founded a new airfreight company.
On 29th June, the company in Leipzig now celebrated its first anniversary. Guests at the ceremony in the Museum der Bildenden Kunste in Leipzig included, among others, Saxony’s State Ministers, Sven Morlok and Dr. Johannes Beerbaum, as well as Dr. Helmut Stegmann, Permanent Secretary in the Finance Ministry of Saxony-Anhalt.
Aerologic, which is based at Leipzig/Halle Airport, could thereby look back on a positive first year. Already today it flies with the largest Boeing 777F fleet in the world, but the fleet will continue to grow. Managing Director Jörg Eberhart referred to the scheduled delivery of a further three freighters of the same type by the end of the year, which makes a fleet of eight machines then. The current freight volume of around 5,600 tons per week will increase by about 60 percent, according to Eberhart. Last month a new connection to Shanghai and Seoul was already added to the programme.
