eFreight - Operational procedures

During the warm-up phase of IATA eFreight and in preparation for the introduction of the IATA eAWB, two process variants - EAP and EAW - were introduced.

EAP = electronic AWB with pouch
EAW = electronic AWB without pouch

With implementation of eAWB exchanged electronic messages are the legal basis for the conclusion of the transport contract. The following diagram shows the process sequence:

Exclusion of special products from IATA eFreight/eAWB:

• Dangerous Goods, Live Animals, Human Remains, Perishable cooled with ICE, Cool Containers and Charges Collect shipments ("CC-shipments")
