FWB denotes the electronic transfer of air waybill (AWB) data from agent to carrier. The FWB (Freight Waybill) is a Master Air Waybill (MAWB) information stored in special news format in a data file, from which it is
extracted and compiled so that it conforms to IATA standards and specifications.
Details of FWB and other EDI communications are laid down by IATA and published in the IATA Cargo IMP Manual. This is available at www.iataonline.com
Cargo Interchange Message Procedures (CargoIMP) support all processes in freight handling. For example: Transfer of air waybill (Master AWB) data, flight manifest or accounting/invoicing data, shipment status, discrepancies, embargos, customs, CASS billing and settlement system, and dangerous goods information.
Join us in the “paperless freight environment“.
If your in-house system is able to transfer and accept FSU EDI messages, then it is also able to send FWBs. If your in-house system does not support FSU, you can still transfer FWBs with TRAXON LINE – a free software suite from TRAXON Europe and easy to download. Email traxonline@traxon.com or contact the responsible Area Sales Manager at www.traxon.com.
If you mail an FWB, you profit from quicker acceptance of your shipment and better data quality. You also help us improve our handling and flight-steering processes.
Moreover, you save costs on administrative work which is currently carried out manually. .
If you would like Lufthansa Cargo to inform your IT specialists how to transfer FWB messages or improve your existing FWB transfers, mail us details of the contact person we should address at echannelsupport@dlh.de.
