Tighter security provisions for perishables into or via USA

In recent weeks tighter security provisions for flights to the USA were implemented: Cargo not accompanied by a security statement on flights to or via the USA can in future only be transported on freighters. Any necessary onward transport would be effected with Road Feeder Services (RFS).

Since perishables cannot always be guaranteed to remain fresh and untainted on RFS services, Lufthansa Cargo can - from 1 December 2010 - only accept perishables for transport on passenger aircraft into or via the USA, if they are accompanied by a security statement.
