
Peter Gerber was born in Gießen on 1st March 1964.

After passing his university entrance exams in 1983, he studied law and business management in Gießen and Hagen. In 2008, he also completed a senior executive programme at Columbia University in New York.
Gerber started his career with Lufthansa in 1992 in the Human Resources area and the Legal department. His main focal points there were the development of the new retirement pension scheme and the Miles & More programme. That was followed by various positions within the Group, among others, in Lufthansa’s cost-cutting programme “Programm 15”.
As of 1997, he was manager responsible for the area of corporate settlement, fees and charges. Here Gerber dealt mainly with airport and air traffic control fees, charges and liaison with state authorities. In June 2001, was Gerber appointed Project Manager responsible for the group-wide result safeguarding programme “D-Check”. The programme’s target of generating an improvement in the annual cash-flow of one billion Euros within a period of three years, was surpassed ahead of schedule with 1.6 billion Euros. In addition, he was responsible for strategic corporate development.
From December 2004 to May 2009, Gerber was in charge of Corporate Industrial Relations and Social Security of the Lufthansa group.
Since 1st June 2009, he has become a member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo, responsible for Finance and Human Resources. As a result, he is responsible for the areas of Controlling, Human Resources, Finance & Accounting as well as Procurement Infrastructure and Information Management.
Peter Gerber is married and has two children.
